Acid Reflux Attack Can Happen AnytimeTaking it easy and enjoying a lazy Sunday afternoon at the sports bar watching the football games with your buddies. You laugh and joke about everything, especially the dumb commercials shown during the all important games. What a great time to be able to think that life is good and that you have no problems in the entire world. Who cares if people can not sleep, have acid reflux disease or foot fungus? You certainly do not and you make fun of those silly commercials. Now, you suddenly experience a terrible moment when you are suddenly sick in the middle of the night. Your chest hurts and it feels as if it is on fire. You drink water to relieve the pain, but it does not help. Are you having a heart attack-no way, you are too young and in the prime of your life. Your spouse gets up and gives you an antacid to see if that will help and eventually, you feel better and go back to bed.
This scenario is becoming more and more frequent as you continue to experience the painful burning sensation in your chest. You never thought that you would be one of the people who would actually have this problem. You start to remember back to your father and what he told you about getting older-you just can not eat and drink the way you did when you were young. Your body would change and foods you love would cause you a lot of misery. Who would have thought that it was now your time to suffer from acid reflux and that you would having attacks on a regular basis. You want to continue eating and drinking the way you have, but you are starting to realize that this is truly a medical problem that should receive your attention. It would not be so bad having this problem once in a while, but these attacks make you miserable. Having an acid reflux attack is nothing to scoff at. If you only have one, you are going to be one of the fortunate people who will take an antacid and then forget about the problem. Unfortunately, you will probably be like the majority of us and will continue to have attacks on a regular basis. It is now time for you to make a decision about how you will manage your acid reflux and ways that you will work to avoid future attacks. There is no one way to deal with this problem, but a head-on approach is probably the best. Figure out what causes your attacks and then try to manage them by watching your diet-if that does not work, see a doctor. |
